Building a School to Honor Sheri (Part 2)

The school Sheri's family built to honor her was completed in July 2012. Brent and Russ (Sheri's brothers) went to Kenya to represent our family during the dedication. This picture shows volunteers from Koins for Kenya painting the inside of the school.

Brent and Russ helped make some of the desks for the school in this workshop. Russ is sitting at one of the 100 desks that will fill the two classrooms.

Building a School to Honor Sheri

Scott and Beverly decided to honor Sheri by building a two-room school in Miyani, Kenya in her name. Here are pictures of the beginning of the Sheri Klein School being built by the non-profit organization Koins for Kenya.

Here are the trenches the villagers dug for the foundation of the new classrooms.  There will also be a water cistern and bathrooms.

In the background there is a pile of gravel. The gravel wasn't just purchased from Home Depot, it started out as rocks in a distant river bed. The men and women of the village pounded the rocks until they turned into gravel.

Students in the school will sit in a two-person desk like this one. Friends and family contributed money for the desks for the Sheri Klein school.

A ground-breaking ceremony was held for Sheri's School in Miyani, Kenya, on April 21, 2012. Here is link to a video of the ground-breaking: https://picasaweb.google.com/104009299582808329877/SheriSSchoolGroundbreakingInMiyaniKenya

Mother's Day 2012

Because their flight to Spain was delayed for two days, Beverly and Scott were able to visit Sheri's grave on Mother's Day. Here is a picture of the grave showing Abbey's cards to Sheri (the red and blue papers) and the beautiful flowers from the snowball bush in the Zimmerman's back yard.

We love you, Sheri.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to two of the bestest mothers in the whole wide world! Ironically this photo was taken just before Beverly left on her first LDS mission...she just left on her second. We will miss her.

Sheri, you are are in our thoughts today and everyday. Earlier this week Abbey was sad because she wished she could be a baby again. I'm sure that was her way of saying she misses you.
