Building a School to Honor Sheri

Scott and Beverly decided to honor Sheri by building a two-room school in Miyani, Kenya in her name. Here are pictures of the beginning of the Sheri Klein School being built by the non-profit organization Koins for Kenya.

Here are the trenches the villagers dug for the foundation of the new classrooms.  There will also be a water cistern and bathrooms.

In the background there is a pile of gravel. The gravel wasn't just purchased from Home Depot, it started out as rocks in a distant river bed. The men and women of the village pounded the rocks until they turned into gravel.

Students in the school will sit in a two-person desk like this one. Friends and family contributed money for the desks for the Sheri Klein school.

A ground-breaking ceremony was held for Sheri's School in Miyani, Kenya, on April 21, 2012. Here is link to a video of the ground-breaking: https://picasaweb.google.com/104009299582808329877/SheriSSchoolGroundbreakingInMiyaniKenya
